Born in Dallas, Texas, Courtlyn Hanson began her training at the age of three at the Ballet Academy of Texas under the direction of Lisa Sagle. She spent four summers at ABT’s New York Summer Intensive, and received a National Training Scholarship in 2012. Courtlyn competed in the Youth America Grand Prix-finals beginning in 2010 where she consecutively placed in the top three of the classical division. In 2012 and 2013, Hanson advanced to the YAGP New York City Finals where she was offered a contract to join American Ballet Theatre's studio company.
She joined American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2014 and became a member of the corps de ballet in June 2015. Her repertoire includes a mix of corps de ballet, soloist and principal roles in multiple classical ballets and new works. In 2019 Courtlyn went on to dance with two New York City based touring companies. During the summer of 2020, she was hired as a principal artist for Zion’s summer series and will begin her first season with Zion Dance Project.
