An invitation to come to the table of brotherhood, “Spirituals” is a powerful exploration of racial reconciliation and generational healing. This deeply moving production weaves together themes of freedom, faith, and unity, drawing inspiration from the Quakers’ commitment to abolition, the courage of those who navigated the Underground Railroad, and the haunting beauty of Negro spirituals that carried hope through darkness. Rooted in the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and performed during Black History Month, “Spirituals” is a poignant reminder of the ongoing journey toward justice and healing.
Artistic Director Vincent Hardy’s vision for “Spirituals” is one of hope and transformation—one he and the ZDP Company are eager to continue developing and sharing for years to come.
